The law of attraction: start here

What do you want?

To live more abundantly?

Have your dream job?

Fall in love with the man or woman of your dreams?

Start your own business?

Live a healthier lifestyle?

You see I can go up to a stranger and ask that same question and a majority will have no clear answer. Let me tell you something, clarity leads to power. If you don’t have a plan for your life, someone else will.

Did you know that most people spend more time planning a vacation than they spend planning their life? Planning gives your life direction.

Define your destination

So the first step you need to take is to know what you want.

I hear a lot of people that they don’t want this or they don’t want that. If this is you, let me tell you, this is a great starting point.

What I’ve realized is that some people never figure out what they want until they know what they don’t want.

For example:

Some people don’t know they want to be thin until they are a little overweight. Or some people don’t know they want to be rich until they have pennies in their pockets. And some people don’t know they want good health until they are sick. It’s good to know what you don’t want because it can narrow your focus to what you do want. However, you must avoid at all cost repeating to yourself what you don’t want. You must make it a habit to think and talk about what you do want because whatever you think about, you will attract, regardless if it’s negative or positive.

So how do you define what you want?

Well, you can use the example I just stated and ask yourself “what do I want instead?

For example:

If you don’t want financial problems any more than what do you want instead? Maybe you do want financial abundance. Replace your “don’t” with a “do.” But just because you replaced your don’ts with dos doesn’t mean you’re done. More clarity is needed because there is such a thing as too general.

Too general?

Well, your brain is designed to respond is to specific instructions. Specific instructions produce specific results. General instructions produce general results. So you must it very clear about your intentions. Saying something like “I want more money” is way too general. You can ask for more money day and night and still be in the same situation. To the universe more money could be a few dollars and I know that’s not what you truly want.

If it’s more money you want then how much is it and what will you spend it on? If it’s a home you want, how many rooms does it have, what does it look like? If you want to lose weight, what size clothes do you want, what is your ideal weight? If you want a partner, what are their characteristics? Be very specific and detailed.

Become aware

When you are conscious of what you want, your brain will begin to notice things that can help you make your dreams a reality. This part of the brain is called the reticular activating system. If you never clearly define what you want, your brain will never notice the opportunities that can help you achieve your dream.

For example, have you ever bought a car and then all of a sudden you start noticing that same car a lot more. That’s the reticular activating system at work. When you are conscious of your desire, you will be more aware of the things that can help you attain it.

But remember, you might not get an immediate game plan of how something will manifest. You might get an idea or a hunch. You can either act on that idea or hunch or simply pass on it and wait for the next one. And from that action, a new idea or hunch will emerge and so on until you reach your goal.

I don’t know what I want

If you’re having difficulties describing what you want then ask yourself a question. What do I want my life to look like? Ask yourself expecting the answer and do not leave the question until you have an answer you’re satisfied with.

You can do this in any area of your life. If you want abundance then what does abundance look like for you? The key to this is creating a clear image of what you want that is so compelling and gets you so excited, so pumped up, makes you feel alive for what is to come.

John C Maxwell said “If there’s hope in the future there’s power in the present.”

Also, I want you to make a list of the things you will no longer accept in your life. Habits or actions that will or have held you back from living the kind of life you deserve. Make a list of things you will no longer tolerate from yourself. Raise the standard you have for yourself and accept nothing less. Commit and decide that this is a new way of life for you.

After you have completed that, I want you to set a goal for yourself. Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible. It is the foundation for all success. So set a goal and establish a date by which you intend to achieve it by. When adding a deadline your brain will figure out what has to happen in order to achieve it in that time frame.

A goal is your vision of the future

Goals become like a magnet and the better you describe them the more they pull. The deadline should be something believable for you and we will discuss belief and faith in further conversations.

Write your goal out and declare it to yourself every day. Your declaration should be written in the present tense as though it were already true. Your statement should only be focused on what you do want, not what you don’t want. The words “do not” should not be present in your statement at all. Keep it short and memorable but specific. Add an action phrase in your statement because action engages the Law of Attraction and opens you up to further inspiration Include feeling and emotion to your statement. Your declaration should have content which describes the outcome you desire and emotion which describes how you feel about that outcome.

Some examples are:

I am confidently checking my bank account as I make a deposit of $100,000.”

I love being at my ideal body weight of 160 pounds and living an active lifestyle.”

I am joyfully celebrating my new job as a _____.”

Repeat your declaration at least three times daily—first thing in the morning, midday, and just before you go to sleep.

Regular repetition will gently return your focus to manifesting the life of your dreams.

So before moving on you should have clearly defined what you want, write down what you will no longer allow and accept in your life, set a goal and a deadline along with your declaration.
